Paul A. LaViolette has over 40 years of global medical technology management experience. He is currently a Managing Partner and the Chief Operating Officer at SV Health Investors (SVHI), a venture and growth equity investor in healthcare. He joined SVHI in 2009. Prior to joining SVHI, Paul was the Chief Operating Officer at Boston Scientific Corporation (BSC), an $8 billion medical device leader. During his 15 years at BSC, he served as COO, Group President, Cardiovascular, Group President, EndoSurgery, President-Cardiology and President-International. While there, Paul integrated two dozen acquisitions, as well as led extensive product development, operations and worldwide commercial organizations as the company grew 20-fold. Previous to that, he held marketing and general management positions at CR Bard, and various marketing roles at Kendall (Covidien).

Outside of SV, Paul serves on the board of Cardiofocus, Inc., CSA Medical Inc., Corvia Medical, Inc., Edwards Lifesciences, Inc., Endotronix, Inc., Misonix, Inc., Stimwave LLC, Zerigo Health, Inc., as well as the Medical Device Manufacturers Association, and the Innovation Growth Board at the Mass General Brigham health system. He also served on the board of Advamed for 10 years, and is a routine speaker at industry meetings.

Paul received his B.A. in Psychology from Fairfield University and his MBA from Boston College.


Juliana Elstad is a CEO, entrepreneur, and advisor with over 20 years of experience identifying opportunities for growth and delivering success in small startup to multi-billion-dollar environments. She has a proven track record of creating, growing, and leading medical technology organizations with a focus on building dynamic cultures and mentoring high-potential leaders. In addition to holding the CEO role at Vibrato, Ms. Elstad is a Board member of AdvaMed Accel, the world’s largest MedTech trade association. Prior to Vibrato, Ms. Elstad was CEO at Impleo Medical, a medtech company recognized as one of the world’s Top 50 most innovative startups in 2018; founder of Elstad Medical, an advisory firm to medtech CEOs and boards; EVP of business development at Intelect Medical (acquired by Boston Scientific); and led business development efforts at Medtronic, Inc. as well as coordinated strategic planning, performed market analyses for new therapies, and led cross-functional committees.

Juliana started her career as a management consultant with McKinsey & Company, and as a financial auditor with Arthur Andersen. She received her MBA from the Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania, and her Masters in Economics from Moscow State Institute of International Relations. She is married with two kids and lives in Irvine, CA.


Babak Nazer is a physician-scientist, cardiologist, electrophysiologist and entrepreneur focused on the intersection of therapeutic ultrasound technologies and cardiovascular disease. He began his research training in therapeutic ultrasound as an undergraduate at Johns Hopkins University, where he studied Biomedical Engineering. He attended Harvard Medical School, where he also completed a prestigious Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research Fellowship. After completing Internal Medicine residency training at Brigham & Women's Hospital, he completed his Cardiology fellowship at University of California San Francisco, where during his post-doctoral research fellowship he investigated and developed therapeutic ultrasound approaches for the treatment of arrhythmias as well as peripheral arterial disease. In 2016, he joined the faculty at the Knight Cardiovascular Institute at Oregon Health and Science University, where he is currently Associate Professor of Medicine and Biomedical Engineering, Director of the Multi-Disciplinary Ventricular Arrhythmia Program, and runs his own NIH-funded laboratory developing novel arrhythmia ablation devices, many of which are ultrasound-based. Dr. Nazer resides in Portland, OR with his wife and daughter. 


Bobby Azamian is a healthcare entrepreneur developing novel therapeutics that target underlying causes and have a substantial impact in human diseases. He has co-founded and built three companies advancing pioneering chronic disease treatments; provided leadership and strategic guidance through discovery, development, and commercialization; and raised over $150M from institutional investors and corporate partners. Currently, Dr. Azamian is CEO of Tarsus Pharmaceuticals and Co-Chairman of Vibrato Medical. He previously served as CEO and Chief Medical Officer of Metavention.

Dr. Azamian began his biotechnology career as an investor and entrepreneur with Versant Ventures and Third Rock Ventures, and previously completed residency in internal medicine and was an attending hospitalist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He received an MD from Harvard Medical School (Harvard-MIT Heath Sciences and Technology), a PhD in Chemistry from Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar, and a BA in Physics from Rice University. 


Jason Tester is the Chief Financial Officer of the Horowitz Group, an opportunistic, multi-asset class family investment office.  In addition to CFO responsibilities, Jason is active in the firm’s healthcare transactions.  Recent healthcare investments include a founding investment in Tarsus Pharmaceuticals, a pharma company whose lead product targets an underlying cause of blepharitis; Metavention, a medical device company developing a novel glucose control therapy for patients with Type 2 diabetes; and Ocean’s Healthcare, a behavioral hospital healthcare company. Prior to Horowitz Group, Jason served for nine years as the CFO of AcuFocus, an ophthalmic medical device company focused on solutions for presbyopia.  Previously, Jason worked in investment banking at Jefferies and BNP Paribas, with a concentration in healthcare and also worked in business development for the Innovation Factory, a medical device incubator.

Jason began his career as a CPA; he holds an MBA from Emory University, a Master of Accountancy specializing in Tax, and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration both from the University of Georgia. Jason is married with three children and lives in Newport Beach, California.
